PC’S JOHANN COLLINS NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN BY STREET & SMITH’S MAGAZINE

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College senior Johann Collins has been selected to Street and Smith’s Magazine’s 2005-06 College Basketball Yearbook Preseason All-American team announced earlier this month.

Collins, a 6-11, 225-pound center from Raleigh, N.C. (Christian Faith Center) was one of 24 players named to the preseason honorable mention All-American team. Catawba College’s Helgi Magnusson was the only other South Atlantic Conference player to be named to the team.

Collins, a preseason All-SAC selection, averaged 12.6 points, a team-best 6.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists while shooting 49.6% from the field and 73.6% from the free throw line after starting all 29 games in 2004-05.

The Blue Hose, who return their top six players from last year’s 18-11 squad, was also mentioned in the magazine of one of the nation’s possible breakthrough teams for 2005-06.

PC opens the season tonight by hosting Athletes in Action in an exhibition game starting at 7:00 pm.
