COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL RETURNS TO Lake
Buena Vista, FL –
The Presbyterian College men’s basketball team is one of
eight NCAA Division II programs who will open the 2005-06
season at Disney’s Division II Tip-Off Classic held at Disney’s
Wide World of Sports® Complex on the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort November 10-14, 2005. Participating
teams include: Caldwell
College, Columbus State University, Philadelphia University,
Presbyterian College, University of Alaska – Anchorage,
University of Bridgeport, University of Nebraska – Omaha and
the University of Southern Indiana. The annual
competition, now in its ninth year, features Division II teams
from around the country. The tournament, which is produced
with the support of the NCAA Division II Commissioners
Association, regularly features schools ranked in the BCA
coaches poll. The Blue
Hose, under the direction of head coach Gregg Nibert,
return 12 letterwinners and all five starters from the 2004-05
squad which compiled a 18-11 overall record and finished tied
for third in the South Atlantic Conference regular season
standings with an 8-6 mark. PC also advanced to the Food Lion
SAC Tournament semifinals this past season. The Blue Hose will
be led this season by junior guard Sean Dixon (13.9 ppg, 4.2
apg, 3.5 rpg, 43.9% FG, 80.4%), senior center Johann Collins
(12.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 49.6% FG, 73.6% FT), and senior forward
Tray Ballenger (9.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 50.0% FG, 35.6% 3FG). “Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex has formed a unique
relationship with the NCAA Division II Commissioners
Association,” said former Sunshine State Conference
Commissioner Don Landry. “Disney offers our athletic
teams the chance to compete at a high level, in a world class
facility,” he said. Presbyterian
College will open the Classic on Friday, November 11 when they
play the University of Nebraska-Omaha at 8:30 pm. The
Mavericks compiled a 23-6 overall record this past season and
advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Anthony
