BLUE HOSE MEN’S
BASKETBALL TO OPEN 2005-06 SEASON WITH
EXHIBITION GAME AGAINST ATHLETES IN ACTION
CLINTON,
S.C. –
The Presbyterian College men’s basketball team will open the
2005-2006 season on Monday, November 7, 2005 as they host an
exhibition contest against Athletes in Action. Tip off is set
for 7 pm.
The
Blue Hose, under the direction of 17th-year head
coach Gregg Nibert,
return 12 letterwinners and six players that started at one
point from last year’s team which compiled an 18-11 overall
record. Nibert, the all-time winningest men’s basketball
coach in the college’s history and a 1979 graduate of
Marietta College, enters the 2005-06 campaign with a 16-year
overall record of 282-187.
PC
will be led this season by a pair of preseason All-South
Atlantic Conference selections in senior center Johann
Collins (Raleigh,
N.C.) and junior guard Sean
Dixon (Marietta, Ga.). The Blue Hose were recently picked
to finish second in the race for the 2005-06 SAC regular
season title behind Catawba College, based on a preseason
coaches poll.
The
Blue Hose will open the regular season at the Disney Tip-Off
Classic on November 11-13. PC will open the tournament against
the University of Nebraska-Omaha on November 11th.
