PC MEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS THE 2006 FOOD LION SAC TOURNAMENT TOMORROW
NIGHT AT HOME VERSUS EAGLES
First 100 PC Students get in free w/ college ID
CLINTON,
S.C. — The
Presbyterian College men’s basketball team will open play in
the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament
tomorrow night with a trip to the semifinals on the line.
The Blue Hose men’s basketball team (22-8) is seeded No. 2
in this week’s tournament and will host the No. 7 seed
Carson-Newman College Eagles (10-16) on Wednesday, March 1
at 7:00 pm in the Ross E. Templeton Center. The Blue Hose
swept the season series from the Eagles, winning 69-67 at
home on January 14 and won 55-49 in Jefferson City, Tenn. on
February 20.
Presbyterian is 10-5 in opening round games of the Food
Lion SAC Tournament under head coach Gregg Nibert. PC
and Carson-Newman have never met in the opening round, but
the Blue Hose are 3-0 versus the Eagles in the semifinals.
PC has advanced to the championship game five times and won
the 1996 title.
The winner of tomorrow night’s game will face the winner of
No. 3 Catawba/No. 6 Tusculum in the semifinals on Saturday,
March 4 at 6:00 pm in Hickory, N.C. at the Catawba Valley
Community Center. The Food Lion
SAC Tournament championship game will be held on Sunday,
March 5 at 2:00 pm. The men’s winner of the tournament will
earn automatic bid to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Tickets for all tournament games are $6 per day for adults, $3 per
day for children, students and college students with ID.
The first 100 college students with college ID will receive
free admission to the game.
