SLIGH SIGNS WITH
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL
CLINTON, S.C. —
Travis Sligh has
signed a national letter of intent to play men’s basketball
at Presbyterian College announced today by head coach Gregg
Nibert.
Sligh, a 6-4, 200-pound forward from Columbia, S.C.,
currently attends for Keenan High School where he plays for
head coach Zack Norris.
As a senior, he averaged 18.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.1 spg, and 3.1
apg while joining the program’s 1,000-point club with 1,100
career points. Sligh, a three-time All-Region selection,
earned Player of the Year honors as a senior in Region IV 2-A,
All-Columbia Area 2-A, and from the South Carolina Basketball
Coaches Association (SCBCA). He was also selected to the SCBCA
All-State team and was a McDonald’s All-American Honorable
Mention selection.
“We are very excited to sign a player out of a
winning high school program like the one Coach Norris has
built at Keenan High School,” said Nibert. “Travis is the
type of student, person, and athlete that we need at
Presbyterian College. He will be counted on to play and
contribute immediately as a freshman. How hard he works over
the summer will be critical for our team’s success next
season.”
Sligh becomes the first player to sign with the Blue
Hose during the 2004-05 academic year. Presbyterian College is
coming off a 18-11 campaign in 2004-05 that included a tie for
third place finish in the South Atlantic Conference with an
8-6 league mark and was a semifinalist for the 2005 Food
Lion/SAC Tournament title. The Blue Hose finished in the top
half of the SAC standings for the 13th time in the
16-year history that the SAC sponsored men’s basketball.
