PC Men’s Basketball Signs Aaron Gibbs
CLINTON, S.C. –
Presbyterian College head men’s basketball coach Gregg Nibert recently
announced the signing of Aaron Gibbs.
A 6-foot-3 wing out of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., Gibbs
will join the PC basketball program with fellow signees Al’Lonzo Coleman
(Vance, N.C./Vance) and Josh Johnson (Hendersonville,
Tenn./Hendersonville) as newcomers for the 2007-08 basketball season.
“We are excited to have a quality player out of Coach Rick Lewis’
program at Myers Park High School,” noted Nibert. “Aaron is a versatile
player with the athletic ability and skills to make an immediate impact
in our program. He is the caliber of player that we need to lead us into
competition in the Big South Conference.”
Gibbs averaged 16.7 points-per-game, 8.7 rebounds-per-game and 3.7
blocks-per-game last year. Gibbs had 15 double-doubles last season and
had a career-best 26 points against Butler High School.
The Southwestern 4-A conference Player of the Year in 2007, Gibbs also
had a career-high 18 boards against Hopewell High School and a
career-high nine blocks against South Mecklenburg High School.
Gibbs received a variety of awards in addition to his conference Player
of the Year nod during his time at Myers Park, including Southwestern
4-A all-conference accolades in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
He was a Charlotte Pro-Am All-Star and was named All-Mecklenburg County.
The Charlotte Observer named him to its third team at the conclusion of
last season and awarded him weekly Fab 5 honors.
Presbyterian is coming off a 2006-07 season in which they posted a 20-9
record to finish with two consecutive 20-win seasons after posting a
25-9 mark in the 2005-06 campaign. The 2007-08 season will be the first
for the Blue Hose at the NCAA Division I level.
