Blue Hose Buzz Past Allen as Epperly Has Career Night

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian’s Brian Epperly netted a career-best 15 points and the Blue Hose bested Allen University 86-54 at the Templeton Center on Monday evening.

Epperly’s 15 points usurped his previous career high of 11 set in a game against Wingate last season. The Roanoke, Va. native only missed three shots in the game, going 6-for-9 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.

Presbyterian remains undefeated at 4-0 entering Wednesday’s showdown with defending Big South conference champion Winthrop.

The Blue Hose are off to their best record in five years. The last time the team started the season off this strongly was in the 2001-02 campaign when they commenced the season by going 4-0 before falling in overtime to USC Aiken in their fifth game of the year.

Travis Sligh, who was 6-for-10 from the field in the win, matched his career-high in the win over the Yellow Jackets at 12 points. Sligh originally set his career high in points in a game against Allen in January of last season.

Presbyterian’s Martynas Versinskas continued his impressive play in the victory with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Blue Hose point guard Ryan Lamb doled out a PC career-best six assists in the game.

Presbyterian never trailed in the contest, recording the game’s first points on a Grant Herren jumper at the 19:11 mark to never look back.

The Blue Hose entered halftime with a 25-point lead at 46-21 lead scored 40 more in the second stanza to acquire the 32-point victory.

Allen was led by Michael Gamble in the loss. The Douglas, Ga. native scored a game-high 20 points.

The Blue Hose next travel to Rock Hill to face the Eagles at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Winthrop Coliseum.
