PC Acquires SAC Home Victory Over Catawba

CLINTON, S.C. – Sean Dixon scored 17 points and Presbyterian College snapped a season-high tying two-game skid with a 69-56 victory over Catawba before a crowd of 1,081 in South Atlantic Conference basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center.

Dixon shot 50% from the field in contest, hitting two threes and nailing five of his six free throws.

Junior transfer Ryan Lamb scored a PC career-high eight points in the win. The Hiram, Ga. native also collected a game-high and career-high three steals.

Lithuanian Martynas Versinskas had 10 points and a team-best seven boards.

One of the top scorers in the league coming into the game, Catawba’s Chris Woolridge (Norfolk, Va.) ended the loss with a game-high 25 points.

The senior forward was a perfect 9-for-9 from the field in the game and hit seven of his nine free throw attempts.

Overall, Presbyterian (43.8) shot just over one percent better than the Indians (42%) in the game. The Blue Hose were able to claim exactly one-third of their points from the charity stripe though compared to Catawba’s 11 made free throws.

The Blue Hose shot 79.3% (23-29) from the free throw in the game, while the Indians shot 55% (11-20).

Presbyterian (10-6, 3-2 SAC), who ended the Catawba game 7-1 at home in the 2006-07 season, next travels to Wingate to face the Bulldogs at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
