PC Concludes 2006 Year
Undefeated At Home
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian ended the 2006
year undefeated at home in men’s basketball action with a 64-59 victory
over Erskine at the Templeton Center on Saturday evening.
The Blue Hose end the year 13-0 at home, including
5-0 this season. The win was PC’s 30th win in the last
two-plus years at home as the Blue Hose since the outset of the 2004-05
season have gone 30-2 at home.
The victory gives head coach Gregg Nibert, who is
currently in his 18th year in charge of the Blue Hose
basketball program, his first undefeated “year” at the Templeton Center.
The Blue Hose have not lost a home game since
succumbing 79-67 to Georgia College & State on Dec. 30, 2005 at the
Templeton Center.
Sean Dixon led the Blue Hose in the victory over
Erskine, scoring a team-high 17 points. The Marietta, Ga. native was
6-for-8 from the field in the contest.
Only two Blue Hose finished the game in double
figures, with Drew Biggs joining Dixon. The Chattahochee (Ga.) High
School product acquired 11 points in the Erskine win. Overall,
Presbyterian shot just over 47% from the field in the contest compared
to Erskine’s 43.1%.
Erskine’s Craig Williams continued his stellar play
in the 2006-07 season in the loss.
The Harris, Ky. native came into the game averaging
a double-double (20.1 ppg. 11.3 rpg.), but could not muster enough
rebounds after procuring only six against Presbyterian to pick up a
double-double against the Blue Hose.
Williams did manage a game-high 24 points in the
victory; albeit only eight of those points came in the second stanza.
Presbyterian now has a season-high 13 days off for
the holidays before returning to the court at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29
against host school Florida Southern in the inaugural day of the Florida
Southern Tournament.
The Blue Hose will then face 11th-ranked
Montevallo at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30.
Presbyterian will commence conference play shortly
after their return, traveling to Tusculum to face the Pioneers at 8 p.m,
on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
