Dixon Ties Career High In Loss To GCSU

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College & State’s Levert Carter collected a game-high 15 rebounds and the Bobcats defeated Presbyterian 88-77 at the Centennial Center on Wednesday evening.

The Georgia College & State win evens the season series at 1-1. The Blue Hose won the inaugural game of the season between the two institutions 71-58 on Dec. 2 at the Templeton Center.

Overall, Presbyterian has now lost a season-high two straight games and return home to face Erskine at 7 p.m.on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Templeton Center owning a 5-3 record. Georgia College & State improves to 8-1 on the season with its only loss of the campaign thus far coming at the hands of the Blue Hose.

The Blue Hose offensive effort in the game was led by Sean Dixon, who finished with a game-high 25 points. The 25 points matched a career high for the Marietta, Ga. native.

Grant Herren added 15 points to tie his season best in the category. The Oviedo, Fla. native also acquired five boards and two assists.

Carter only played in 17 minutes in the victory for the Bobcats, but pulled down the 15 boards to go along with the eight points he accumulated in the game.

Shejdie Childs tied his career high of 17 in the victory to lead all Bobcat scorers.

In the first half a jumper from Aaron Clark at the 17:38 mark would put the Bobcats up 6-5. The lead would remain in favor of GCSU for the rest of the night.

The Blue Hose kept it close in the first stanza as they only let the lead get into double digits once during the first half.

In the second half, the Bobcats would come out of the locker room to the tune of a 10-3 run, which was capped by a layup from Childs at the 16:53 mark.

A jumper from Aaron Clark with 11:08 to play gave the Bobcats its largest lead of the night at 67-52. The Blue Hose would fight back to single digits, but in the end it proved to be GCSU’s night.
