PC Remains Unbeaten At Home With
Victory Over GCSU
CLINTON, S.C. – Behind 15 points and five assists
by Sean Dixon, Presbyterian remained unbeaten at home so far in the
2006-07 season with a 71-58 victory over Georgia College & State on
Saturday evening at the Templeton Center.
The victory avenges a 79-67 Georgia College & State
win the last time that the two squads tangled at the Templeton Center,
which was also the last time that Presbyterian fell at home.
Presbyterian has now picked up 12 straight
victories at home. The Blue Hose overall in the last two seasons up to
this juncture in the season are 15-1 at the Templeton Center.
Presbyterian only trailed once in the game and that
was on the game’s opening basket by GCSU’s Shejdie Childs that made the
score 2-0 in favor of the Bobcats.
The Blue Hose tied the game shortly after that at
2-2 on a jumper by Bryan Bostic and then went ahead 4-2 on a jumper by
Herren.
The Blue Hose never looked back, leading by eight
at halftime at 31-23. PC outscored the Bobcats 40-35 in the second half
to tally the 13-point victory.
The majority of Dixon’s 15 points came from the
charity stripe where he was 10-for-12 on the evening. The Marietta, Ga.
native was part of a strong outing for the Blue Hose from the free throw
line that saw PC finish 19-for-22 (86.2%) in the game as a team.
The Blue Hose were particularly prolific from the
free throw line in the second stanza, finishing 15-for-16.
Herren barely missed out on a double-double in the
victory. The Oviedo (Fla.) High School product finished the contest with
a game-best 11 rebounds and eight points in 27 minutes of action.
Pat Kiscaden chipped in with 11 points for the Blue
Hose. Part of the Blue Hose’s Oviedo (Fla.) tandem, Kiscaden acquired
nine of the 11 points from beyond the arc.
As a team, Kiscaden and the Blue Hose shot over 45%
from the field compared to the Bobcats’ 35%.
Georgia College & State’s Aaron Clark had 18 points
in the loss.
Presbyterian next travels to Spartanburg, S.C. to
take on proximity rival USC Upstate on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Tipoff is set
for 7:30 p.m.
