PC’s Herren Named SAC
Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
Rock Hill, S.C. –
Presbyterian College’s Grant Herren was named South Atlantic Conference
Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Herren, a senior forward from Oviedo, Fla., averaged 19.0 points and 4.5
rebounds in leading the Blue Hose to a 2-0 week with a pair of wins over
Mars Hill (66-63) and Lenoir-Rhyne (75-72 in overtime) on Wednesday and
Saturday.
Herren started the week with 13 points in a road victory over Mars Hill
before scoring a career-high 25 points in PC’s overtime victory over
Lenoir-Rhyne at the Templeton Center.
Herren was 13-of-15 from the free throw line in Presbyterian’s win over
first-place Lenoir-Rhyne.
The
Oviedo High School product shot 63% (10-of-16) from the floor and 86%
(18-of-21) from the charity stripe for the week.
Herren, who is second on the team in scoring (10.9 ppg) this year, has
led Presbyterian (14-7, 7-3) to its current second-place standing in
league play.
He
is shooting 60% from the floor on the year, which is good for
second-best in the SAC.
Currently ranked 10th in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic
Region, Presbyterian next travels to Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, Feb.
7 for its first ever league tilt in Harrogate, Tenn. Tip-off between the
Blue Hose and Railsplitters is scheduled for 8 p.m.
