PC Easily Downs Rival Newberry At Templeton Center

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian led from beginning to end in a 27-point 70-43 win over rival Newberry in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center.

The Blue Hose are now 8-1 at the Templeton Center this season and 33-3 in the last two-plus years.

The Blue Hose outplayed the Indians in every facet of the game, shooting over 10% better from the field than Newberry, who shot 32.7% from the field compared to PC’s 43.4%.

The Indians shot 30.4% from the field in the second half, with many of their misses coming from beyond the arc as they shot just 16.7% from beyond the three-point line in the contest.

Presbyterian was led the in scoring column by Bryan Bostic (Norcross, Ga.) and Sean Dixon (Marietta, Ga.)

Bostic was 4-for-5 on his three-pointers in the game and 5-for-8 overall on his shots. He finished with a game-high 15 points. Dixon was just 3-for-9 from the field in the game, but finished the game 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Newberry (8-9, 3-5) only had one player finish the game in double figures as Clemente Martin had 10 to lead the Indians.

Presbyterian (12-7, 5-3) has now beaten the Indians 55 times in their 89 all-time meetings.

The Blue Hose next travel to Mars Hill to square off against the Lions at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
