PC Ranked Fifth In Region
INDIANAPOLIS –
Presbyterian College’s men’s basketball team was ranked fifth in the
latest NCAA Division II men’s basketball regional rankings.
In total, three
South Atlantic Conference teams were ranked among the top 10 in the
South Atlantic Region.
The Blue Hose are
the highest ranked SAC squad.
Presbyterian is
currently tied for first place in the SAC with Catawba. The Blue Hose
are 11-3 in SAC action and 18-7 overall.
Lenoir-Rhyne is
seventh in the region, while Catawba is ranked ninth in the South
Atlantic region.
Augusta State is
the top-ranked team in the region. They are one of three Peach Belt
Conference schools in the poll.
Virginia Union,
the 2005 NCAA Division II national champion, is second in the region and
one of four schools from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic
Association ranked.
Eight teams from
the South Atlantic Region advance to the NCAA Tournament, including
automatic qualifiers from each of the three conferences.
The regional
rankings will be released every Wednesday through February 28.
In the midst of a
season-high eight-game winning streak, Presbyterian plays Catawba at 8
p.m. tonight before ending the season on the road against Catawba.
