PC Extends
Season-High Winning Streak To Six Games
CLINTON, S.C. – Behind 21 points from Sean Dixon, Presbyterian
College ran its season-high winning streak to six games in its pivotal
88-77 victory over Wingate University on Monday evening at the Templeton
Center.
The win keeps Presbyterian just a half-game back of the lead in the SAC
men’s basketball standings and drops Wingate one full game back of the
three teams currently with three losses.
Lenoir-Rhyne, who defeated Lincoln Memorial on Monday evening, is atop
the league standings with its 10-3 record. Presbyterian and Catawba
follow closely behind with identical records of 9-3 in the league.
The eighth-ranked squad in the South Atlantic region of the NCAA
Division II regional rankings, Presbyterian overall ends the game at
16-7, while the loss drops Wingate to 16-7 on the year.
Exactly one-third of Dixon’s 21 points in the victory over Wingate on
Monday came from the free throw line where he finished 7-for-8 on the
evening. The Marietta, Ga. native shot right at 50% from the field in
the game, connecting on five of his 10 shot attempts.
Bryan Bostic (Norcross, Ga.) followed closely behind Dixon in the
scoring column, netting 19 points for PC. Bostic was 8-for-12 from the
field in the game.
The league leader in three-point field goal percentage, Bostic also
nailed three treys in the win, hitting three of his seven three-point
attempts.
PC’s Travis Sligh was a perfect from the field in the victory over
Wingate. The Columbia, S.C. native was 4-for-4, scoring a team
third-best 12 points.
Wingate was led in the loss by All-SAC standout Sean Barnette. The Rock
Hill, S.C. native finished his evening with a game-high 24 points and
nine rebounds.
Presbyterian is now 10-1 on the season in the friendly confines of the
Templeton Center. The Blue Hose have one day off before welcoming
Carson-Newman to the Templeton Center at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
