BLUE HOSE CROSS COUNTRY INKS 4 SIGNEES
Two runners from Lexington H.S. sign with PC
CLINTON,
S.C. Lee Bugay, Drew
English, Tarith Forrester, and Grace
Mitchell have signed national letters of intent with
Presbyterian College announced today by mens and
womens cross country head coach Leigh Irwin.
Bugay, a 5-7 runner from Lexington, S.C., is a
senior at Lexington High School where he ran for head
coach and Blue Hose alumni Bailey
Harris. Bugays team finished fourth in the region
this season and he earned the Johnny Boozer Award given annually for a student-athlete who
demonstrates athletic leadership.
English, a 5-10 runner from Summerville, S.C., is a
senior at Summerville High School where he ran for head
coach Bob Crowley. English was a member of the Green Waves squad that
finished third in the state this season and placed 18th as
an individual despite a severe ankle injury. English was a
captain this season for the Green Wave and earned
all-region honors for three straight years.
Forrester, a 5-6 runner from Lexington, S.C., is a
senior at Lexington High School where she ran for head
coach and Blue Hose alumni Bailey
Harris. Forresters teams won five region
championships in six years during her career. She earned
all-region honors all six seasons and finished in the top
five at five of six region championships.
Mitchell, a 5-4 runner from Summerfield, N.C., is a
senior at Northwest Guilford High School where she ran for
head coach Jim
Ecolston. Mitchell is a four-time all-conference
selection and was named all-state as a freshman. She was
selected team captain this season and is the schools
record holder for the 5K.
I am very pleased with our recruiting class this
year, said Irwin. They will be valuable additions to
our program and will make an immediate impact next
year.
The Blue Hose are coming off a 1999 season where
the womens squad posted two top five finishes in seven
meets while the mens squad posted a season-best fourth
at the Gardner-Webb University Invitational.
