PC’S BRANNON NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT III
MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College men’s cross country runner Drew Brannon (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District III Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country College Division Team announced today.

Brannon, a junior runner for the Blue Hose, had a 3.70 GPA this year while majoring in Psychology. During the season, he finished 41st at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Meet, 19th at the South Atlantic Conference Championship Meet, and posted four top 25 finishes in five meets. In the classroom, he has been selected to the SAC’s Academic Honor Roll three straight years (2000, 2001, 2002), named to the school’s Dean’s List five times and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for one semester earning selection to the school’s President’s List. This season was his first running cross country for PC after spending the last two years playing men’s basketball at the school.

The entire team is made up of 10 student-athletes from nine schools within the district. All 10 members of the team are now on the national ballot for the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American® Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team, which is scheduled to be announced on Thursday, June 20.

The District III College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-American® program, a student-athlete must be a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a starter or significant reserve on the team.
