PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE MEN’S & WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS HOLD ANNUAL BANQUET
Carmody named men’s MVP

CLINTON, SC — The Presbyterian College men’s and women’s cross country teams held their annual awards banquet last night.

It was a grand occasion celebrating the 2001 Season.  Both teams had good seasons. The women’s team finished runner-up in three meets and were ranked in the top 10 for the region in 5 out of 8 polls.  The men finished as runner-ups in two meets and ended the season as the number 10 in the region.

Several individuals were recognized at the banquet including:

Thomas German Co-Team Captain

German, a senior from Concord, NC, always stood behind his teammates and pushed them to be the best they could be. This is best demonstrated by his efforts at practice.  On more than one occasion, Thomas volunteered to run extra repeats to help a teammate push the repeat that he missed earlier in practice.  This exemplifies his personality and leadership.

Jack Carmody Men’s Team MVP and Co-Team Captain

Carmody, a junior from Atlanta, GA, led the team all year long finishing as the top runner in all but one meet. He also led the team every day in practice.  He had an outstanding campaign especially considering that he had a stress fracture in his leg that prevented him from training all summer.

Drew Brannon Men’s Newcomer of the Year

Brannon, a junior from Knoxville, TN, was a vital member of the team this year. In this his first year running cross country, he finished in the top three on the team in every meet and was second on the team in both the conference and regional meets. Drew pushed his teammates both by his actions and words all year long to be the best that they could be.

Ryan Nobles Men’s Scotsman Achievement Award

Nobles, a sophomore from Laurens, SC, was a crucial member of the team all year long. He finished in the top 5 in most meets and always in the top 7.  Additionally, Ryan works hard outside of cross country.  He is leader in several organizations, most notably in Theta Chi. Additionally, Ryan has maintained a 4.0 GPA.
