PC’S BRANNON NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT III MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College men’s cross country runner Drew Brannon (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District III College Division Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team announced today.


Brannon, a senior runner for the Blue Hose, had a 3.77 GPA this year while majoring in English and minoring in Psychology. During the season, he finished 46th at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Meet, 26th at the South Atlantic Conference Championship Meet, and posted seven top 25 finishes in seven meets. In the classroom, he has been selected to the SAC’s Academic Honor Roll four straight years (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003), named to the school’s Dean’s List eight times and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for one semester earning selection to the school’s President’s List.

He earns this honor for the second year in a row. In addition, Brannon is a member of the Sigma Kappa Alpha Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society, Psi Chi Honor Society, and Lamda Iota Tau Honor Society.

The entire team is made up of 10 student-athletes from nine schools within the district. All 10 members of the team are now on the national ballot for the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American® Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team, which is scheduled to be announced in June. 

The District III College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-American® program, a student-athlete must be a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a starter or significant reserve on the team.
