LANDER WOMEN, SMC MEN TAKE INVITATIONAL TITLES
Blue Hose women finished 2nd & men finished 4th

ANDERSON, S.C.- The Lander University women and the Spartanburg Methodist men won the team titles at the AC Invitational Saturday morning at the AC Golf Range.  

The Lander women had 46 points to win the women's 6K race. Presbyterian was second and host Anderson was third.

The Lady Blue Hose was led by senior Tanith Forrester (Lexington, S.C.) placing fourth with a time of 21:06, junior Kate Whipple (Columbia, S.C.) placed sixth with a time of 22:03, and freshman Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.) placed seventh with a time of 22:04. Winning the women's individual title was Tiffany Fore from Lander with a time of 20:37. Placing second and third was Erskine's Jessica Martin, and Coker's Christina Grivetti. 

In the men's 8K event, Spartanburg Methodist recorded 21 points to win the team title. Coker was second, and USC Spartanburg was third.

The Blue Hose men's team was led by freshman Thad Palmer (Union, S.C.) placing 12th with a time of 30:04. Finishing 19th was freshman Nate Price (Athens, Ga.) with a time of 30:54, and coming in 23rd place was junior Luke Faulkenberry (Laurinburg, N.C.) with a time of 31:22. Winning the men's individual title with a time of 26:56 was USC-Spartanburg's Travis Smith. The next four runners were from Spartanburg Methodist -- Richard Munson, Eric Weathersbee, David Vass, and Jonathan McAlister.

Both men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this Thursday, October 16 at Erskine College Invitational in Due West, South Carolina starting at 4 p.m.
