CROSS COUNTRY TAKES FOURTH AT WINTHROP/ASICS INVITATIONAL ROCK
HILL, S.C. – The
Presbyterian College men’s cross country team competed at the
2005 Winthrop University/Asics Invitational on Saturday morning
and placed fourth in the 12-team Garnet Division with 150
points. PC’s
junior Matthew
Elliott (Green Sea, S.C.) led the Blue Hose with his eighth-place finish in
28:31 as he averaged a 5:45 mile. Shawnee
State University took home the men’s Garnet team title with a
low score of 17 points as the Bears captured first, second,
third, and fourth. SSU’s
Larry Gardner claimed the individual title with his time of
27:07 on the 8K-course. Fellow
South Atlantic Conference member, Newberry College, finished 10th
with 238 points. Senior
Nicholas
Williams (Greenwood, S.C.) ran the course in 30:13 to take 20th,
while junior Nate
Price
(Atlanta, Ga.) came in 28th with his time of
31:32 to help the Blue Hose to their fourth-place finish. Presbyterian College will return to action on Saturday, September 24 when the Blue Hose travels to Florence, S.C. to take part in the Francis Marion University Invitational Meet. The men’s race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Final
