BLUE HOSE MEN’S & WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS RETURN TO CAMPUS TODAY TO BEGIN PRESEASON PRACTICE

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College men’s and women’s cross country teams returned to campus on Friday to begin preseason camp under the direction of head coach Stephanie Allen.

Both teams reported Friday afternoon and conducted team meetings and room check-in. Saturday morning the teams continued with team meetings followed by physicals and their first preseason practice.

On Sunday, the teams will continue with a two practices, the first at 7:00 am and the final at 7:30 pm.

The men’s team returns five letterwinners led by junior Matthew Elliott (Green Sea, S.C.) and junior Nate Price (Atlanta, Ga.). On the women’s side, seven letterwinners also return led by senior Amanda Garvin (Lilburn, Ga.) and junior Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.).

“We are very enthusiastic about the return of our cross country runners today,” said Allen. “This year, the team will be returning a week earlier than year's past in order to prepare amply for the first meet.  We have a great group of returnees and very promising newcomers. With the level of commitment and talent coming in this year, these teams have incredible potential.”

Both teams will continue training for their opening meet of the season on Saturday, September 3, the 2005 Eye Opener Cross Country Meet in Spartanburg, S.C. The first race will begin at 8:00 am that morning.
