August 13, 2007 PC Cross Country Finalizes 2007 Schedule Click Here To Download 2007 Cross Country Schedule CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head cross country coach Thad Palmer announced the release of the 2007 Blue Hose cross country schedule on Monday. The eight meet schedule includes five new races. “This is a demanding schedule, but I am confident in our abilities,” said Palmer. “I am happy to keep three familiar courses on the schedule for the returners. The new additions are all competitive races and will help move the program forward.” The Blue Hose will open the 2007 season by traveling to Boone, N.C. to race in the Covered Bridge Run on Aug. 31. One week later they will return to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Eye Opener on Sept. 8. The next week PC will race in the Asic’s Invitational at Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. The Limestone Invitational race will take place in Gaffney, S.C. on Sept. 22. The last four races are all new additions for the Blue Hose. The team will travel to The Citadel Invitational for the first time on Sept. 29. On Oct. 13, PC will travel to Greenville, S.C. to race in the Furman Invitational. The Southeastern Classic Cross Country Meet will take place on Oct. 20, in Nashville, Tenn. To end the season the Blue Hose will be able to compete in the Big South Conference race. The Big South is allowing PC to race and compete in the event, but not score as part of PC's transition into NCAA Division I and the Big South. The Big South Conference race is on Oct. 27 and Palmer feels that being allowed to compete in the event is a great thing for his program. “I was relieved to hear that the Big South is going to let us race in the conference championship, noted Palmer. "We won’t get the chance to see most of these teams this year and from a coaching standpoint it is good to have a definitive race to aim towards. The Championship race will probably be the most competitive for us and will garner the most experience for our athletes.” |
