PC MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 12TH AT THE
AFLAC/COUGAR INVITATIONAL
COLUMBUS, GA —
Presbyterian College shot a final round score of 298 to finish
in 12th place at
the 2005 AFLAC/Cougar Invitational held Tuesday at the
6,515-yar, par 71 Country Club of Columbus.
Two-time
defending Division II national champion USC Aiken shot a final
round 297 to win by two strokes over Armstrong Atlantic State
University (861). Pfeiffer University (868) finished third
followed by the University of West Florida (869), and host
Columbus State University (871).
PC
was led by the play of freshman Rob
Varner
(Columbus, Ga.), who carded a final round 76 on Tuesday,
to place tied for 22nd with a three-round total of 220. Fellow
freshman Taylor Thomas (Columbus,
Ga.) tied for 34th with a score of 223 including a 73 on
Tuesday followed by junior Ben
Karns (Gaffney, S.C.) who finished tied for 38th
with a 224. Junior Aaron
Kersey (Lexington, N.C.) shot a 228 for a tie at 54th,
while freshman Andy Karns (Gaffney, S.C.) finished tied for 68th with a
three-round score of 232.
