PC’S KARNS 43RD AFTER SECOND DAY OF NCAA GOLF REGIONAL

CONCORD, N.C. — Presbyterian College junior Ben Karns shot a second round 82 and is 43rd at the 2006 NCAA Division II Southeast Men's Golf Regional, held this week at the par 72, 6,970-yard Rocky River Golf Club of Concord. 

Karns, a native of Gaffney, S.C., shot a 42 on the opening nine today. On the second nine, Karns overcame a pair of double bogeys with a birdie on No. 10 for a 40.

Four-time defending national champion USC Aiken holds a 20-stroke lead over Georgia College & State University and Armstrong Atlantic State University paced by second-round leader Scott Brown, who fired a one-over par 73. Brown leads Johan Cronvall of GCSU by two strokes overall.

Karns, who qualified for the NCAA Tournament as an individual competitor, will open the final round on Wednesday.
