PC’S KARNS FINISHES T-33RD AT NCAA GOLF SOUTHEAST REGIONAL

CONCORD, N.C. — Presbyterian College junior Ben Karns shot a final round 74 to jump 10 spots and finish T-33rd at the 2006 NCAA Division II Southeast Men's Golf Regional, held this week at the par 72, 6,970-yard Rocky River Golf Club of Concord. 

Karns, a native of Gaffney, S.C., shot a 37 on the opening nine today which included a birdie on No. 6. On the second nine, Karns also shot a 37 and birdied No. 14.

Four-time defending national champion USC Aiken won the tournament by 37 strokes with a three-day score of 875 that included a final round 290. Columbus State University finished second with a three-round score of 912, outpacing Georgia College & State University (913) for runner-up by one stroke.

USC Aiken’s Scott Brown, who led wire-to-wire, took the individual title with a three-round score of 211 including a 69 today. Brown’s teammate Bob Diaz finished second with a score of 216 as he shot even par all three rounds.
