PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE FIFTH FOLLOWING FIRST ROUND
OF THE KIAWAH ISLAND INVITATIONAL

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. Presbyterian College posted an opening round score of 301 to place fifth following the first day of action at the 2005 Kiawah Island Invitational held Monday at the Cougar Point Golf Club.

Two-time defending Division II national champion USC Aiken fired an opening round four over par 292 to take a five stroke lead over Pfeiffer University and Coker College who each opened with rounds of 297. Armstrong Atlantic State University is fourth at 300.

PC was led by the play of freshman Taylor Thomas (Columbus, Ga.) who carded a opening round 71 to finish in fourth place individually. Junior Ben Karns (Gaffney, S.C.) is tied for 11th with a 74, followed by junior Aaron Kersey (Lexington, S.C.) and sophomore Hugh Morrison (Macon, Ga.) are tied for 40th with opening rounds of 78. Junior Patrick Townes (Summerville, S.C.) rounds out the Blue Hose team with an 84 and is tied for 79th place.

Final round will take place on Tuesday.
