Monday, February 20, 2006 USC AIKEN LEADS AFTER FIRST ROUND OF THE 13TH ANNUALPRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE INTERCOLLEGIATECLINTON, S.C. — The Pacers of USC Aiken shot an opening round 297 to take a eight-stoke lead at the 13th Annual Presbyterian College Intercollegiate held at the 6,834-yard, par 72 Musgrove Mill Golf Club today. The two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion Pacers are eight strokes ahead of Coker College who opened the tournament with a team score of 305. USC Aiken was led by the play of Scott Brown who shot a one-under par 71 on the day, while Coker’s Vincent Dumouchel is second with an even par 72. USCA’s Roberto Diaz is third with a score of 73, while Georgia College’s Johan Cronvall and Tusculum College’s Nick Kinzer are tied for fourth with opening rounds of 74. Valdosta State University is currently third with a score of 314 followed by Tusculum at 316, and Georgia College & State University rounds out the top five with an opening round score of 317. Host Presbyterian College opened the tournament with a score of 331 and are currently in ninth place entering tomorrow’s final round. Presbyterian's Patrick Townes leads the host Blue Hose with a first round score of 79,good for T-16th place. Jimi Brindell and Ben Karns are T-33rd with scores of 83. The final round will take place tomorrow morning with the first groups going off at 8:00 am.
