USC AIKEN WINS 13^TH ANNUAL
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE INTERCOLLEGIATE

CLINTON, S.C. — The Pacers of USC Aiken shot a closing round 297 to win by 20 stokes at the 13^th Annual Presbyterian College Intercollegiate held at the 6,834-yard, par 72 Musgrove Mill Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.

The two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion Pacers distanced themselves from the rest of the field by shooting identical scores of 297 at the two-day tournament and finish with a score of 594. Coker College, who shot 309 in the final round and 614 for the tournament, finished 20 strokes behind the Pacers in second place.

Individually, USCA's Scott Brown won medalist honors with a two-day total of 146, outpacing his teammate Roberto Diaz, who also shot 146. The first place tie was broken on the scorecards. Vincent Dumouchel of Coker College was third at 147, while USCA's Matt Giftos finished fourth with a 148. GCSU's Johan Cronvall also shot 148, but finished fifth after the tie was broken on the scorecards.

Valdosta State University finished third with a score of 623, including 309 in today's final round. Georgia College & State University shot a closing round 311 to move into fourth place with a two-round total of 628. Tusculum College, who was in fourth place after the first round, finished fifth with a score of 635 which included a 319 today.

Host Presbyterian College shot a final round 324 to finish in ninth place. Patrick Townes led the Blue Hose with a two-day total of 158 to place T-20th individually. PC's Ben Karns finished T-26th (161), while Jimi Brindell finished T-29th (162).
