PC In Fourth After
Round One Of Kiawah Invitational
First Round Results
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Presbyterian carded a seven-over 295
to end the day in fourth place after the first round of the
Kiawah Island Invitational held at the par-72 Cougar Point
Golf Course.
The Blue Hose were led on Monday by
Hugh Morrison, who fired an even par 72 to finish the day
tied for seventh with five others. PC’s Patrick Townes is
not too far behind in 13th place with two others
after shooting a one-over 73.
Individually, USC Upstate’s Baxter
Culler carded an impressive five-under-par 67 to lead Neil
McBride of Clayton State by two shots. Lander’s duo of Jake
Amos and Brian Newton are tied for third after two-under-par
70’s.
Lander (+4) is in first place after the first day, with
Belmont Abbey (+5) in second and Washburn (+6) in third.
Tuesday’s final 18 holes will decide
the 2006 champion of the event. USC Aiken has won both
previous editions of this event and could have its
impressive 11-match winning streak against Division II
fields snapped.
