PC’s Morrison Named SAC Golfer Of The Year                  Thomas Addison Chosen Coach Of The Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Presbyterian College’s Hugh Morrison, who helped the Blue Hose men’s golf team to five top five finishes, was named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year.

Morrison, a junior from Macon, Ga. (Stratford Academy) had his best outing at the Southeastern Collegiate, where he finished second with a three-round score of one-under-par 215 (72-69-74).

He also was the low man for the Blue Hose at the Bobcat Invitational, where he finished 30th.

In 2005, Morrison was the MVP of the Food Lion SAC Men’s Golf Tournament as a freshman.

Presbyterian coach Thomas Addison was named Men’s Golf Coach of the Year, winning the award for the first time. He carries on a tradition set by his father, former Presbyterian coach Tommy Addison, who was a two-time winner of the award. Thomas Addison guided the Blue Hose to a ranking of 16th in Division II this season and a victory at the BMW Collegiate earlier this week.

Presbyterian in total placed three players on the all-conference team with Morrison being joined on the first team by Patrick Townes and Ben Karns earning second team plaudits.

A senior from Summerville, S.C., Townes enters PC’s next tournament with a scoring average of 75.21 in 24 rounds played this season. His best finish was in the fall of 2006 when he finished tied for second at the Coker Invitational in September.

Karns currently owns a scoring average of 75.5 in 24 rounds played over the course of the year. The Gaffney, SC. native had his best finish of the season with a second place showing at the 2007 Richard Rendleman Invitational in early March.

The 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Tournament begins Monday at Lake Hickory Country Club at Catawba Springs in Hickory, N.C., with 36 holes of competition. The final 18 holes will be Tuesday.
