  PC’s Foley Chosen To 2007 All-Deep South Conference Team

WINGATE, N.C. – Presbyterian College’s Brian Foley was named to the 2007 All-Deep South Conference lacrosse team it was announced by league officials on Monday.

Foley is the first Blue Hose lacrosse player in the two-year varsity history of the program to pick up all-conference plaudits.

Foley (Charlotte, N.C.) concluded the 2007 campaign with the most goals on the team after tallying a goal and an assist in PC’s loss to Saint Leo last Saturday.

The freshman ended his year with a grand total of 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists). Named to the all-league team as a midfielder, Foley had 38 ground balls this past season and caused two turnovers.

Mars Hill College sophomore attack David Hodgins, who led the conference in goals, assists and points per game was named the league’s Player of the Year.

A sophomore from Windsor, Ontario, Hodgins had conference-highs with 35 goals, 36 assists and 71 points. Hodgins led the Lions to a third-place finish in the DSC regular season.

Saint Leo University freshman goalkeeper David Erdman was honored as the 2007 DSC Freshman of the Year. A Mt. Sinai, N.Y. native, Erdman led the conference with a .627 save percentage.

Erdman made 153 saves and has a goal against average of 8.39.

Mars Hill College head coach Sean Woods was awarded the 2007 DSC Coach of the Year award. Woods led the Lions to an 8-5 overall record and a 2-2 record in DSC play.

Overall, Mars Hill and Wingate University led all DSC schools with four players each on the All-Conference team. Mars Hill freshman midfielder Danny Farmer (Calgary, Alberta), sophomore midfielder and face-off man Jeff Cizdziel (Stafford, Va.), junior defender Colbe Klein (West Grove, Pa.) and Hodgins make up the honorees for MHC.

For Wingate, junior attack man Kyle Costello (Wilmington, N.C.), senior midfielder Bryan Safarik (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), junior midfielder and face-off man Bob Chinn (Mooresville, N.C.) and junior defender Michael Watson (Wilmington, N.C.) all made the All-DSC team.

Catawba junior attack man Kurt Green (San Diego, Calif.) and junior defender Matt Puccio (Oakton, Va.) earned All-Conference laurels.

Saint Leo senior attack man Ryan Harris (Vestal, N.Y.) joins Erdman on the All-DSC team.
