PC Falls To Eighth-Ranked Molloy
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Presbyterian
College’s men’s lacrosse team fell 20-11 to No. 8 Molloy
College on Monday afternoon at Harris Stadium in a neutral
site contest on the campus of the University of North
Carolina.
Presbyterian (1-5) played the Lions a
great deal closer than the score as the Blue Hose tied the
Lions in the third quarter with both teams scoring three. PC
then allowed just one more (5-4) goal to Molloy than they
scored in the fourth quarter, deeming the real story in the
game to prove to be the second quarter when the Blue Hose
were outscored 7-1 by the Lions.
Keith Galante led the Lions offensively
in the contest, netting a game-high four goals and a
game-high tying three assists. He was one of five Molloy
players with two or more goals and one of three with two or
more assists.
PC was led in the loss by Brian Foley,
who ended the game with three goals and a game-high tying
three assists. Jeremy Metcalfe also concluded his day with
three goals for the Blue Hose.
In total, seven Blue Hose placed the
ball in the cage in the game.
Molloy’s Billy Brown was the catalyst
for the Lion attack. The midfielder was 17-of-21 on
face-offs, allowing the Lions to keep things on their half
of the field as they only needed nine clears in the contest.
Brown also was able to pick up a
game-high 10 ground balls.
Rob Humann played the first half in net
for the Lions to record the victory, while Pat Slaughter
ended his day making 12 saves for the Blue Hose in the loss.
Presbyterian next travels to Baltimore,
Md. to face St. Michael’s (Vt.) in a neutral site game on
Wednesday, March 14. The game will be played at St. Paul’s
School for the Boys.
