PC’s Mulford Scores Five Goals In Loss To Queens

CLINTON, S.C. – Sean Mulford (Towson, Md.) had a game-high five goals in Presbyterian’s 15-9 loss to Queens University of Charlotte in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Old Bailey Stadium.

The Blue Hose fall to 3-10 on the season with the loss, while Queens gets back to .500 at 6-6 with the victory.

Mulford was one of two Blue Hose with multiple goals. Brian Foley (Charlotte, N.C.), who also had an assist and five ground balls, picked up a hat trick with three goals.

Jeremy Metcalfe (Dallas, Ga.) scored PC’s only other goal on the afternoon. Metcalfe also added an assist, while Jordy McManus (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) dished out one as well.

Alexander Tack led the Royals offensively, ending the contest with a game-high seven points. Tack had a team-best four goals and three assists.

Presbyterian outplayed the Royals in almost every major statistical category. The Blue Hose shot two more times (45-43) than Queens and won 15 of the 25 face-off attempts.

Presbyterian also scooped up 13 more ground balls than Queens, picking up 43 compared to Queens’ 30.

Ben Ewing had a team-high eight ground balls for PC. The freshman from Atlanta, Ga. was also particularly strong on face-offs, earning 12 of PC’s 15 wins on his 17 attempts.

Drew Tobias (Greensboro, N.C.) continued his strong play on defense for PC, causing three Royals’ turnovers.

Queens’ Steven Lemmeyer played the first three quarters in the cage to earn the win in net for the Royals, saving 10 PC shots along the way. Pat Slaughter (Lutherville, Md.) saved 13 Queens shots in the loss in the net for PC.

Presbyterian has a week off before welcoming Saint Leo to Old Bailey Stadium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 for its final regular season home game and its final shot at obtaining a Deep South Conference victory.
