PC Men’s Lacrosse Strong During Spring Break

Presbyterian College’s men’s lacrosse team had one of the better weeks of its two years as a varsity sport at PC during spring break last week. The Blue Hose were 2-2 on the week, obtaining victories over Pfeiffer and Seton Hill, while succumbing to No. 8 Molloy and St. Michael’s.

PC is now 2-6 on the season entering its 3:30 p.m. game on Wednesday, March 21 against Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Blue Hose ended the week with an 11-9 win over Seton Hill at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, Md. on Sunday, March 18.

PC was led in the victory by George McManus (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) and Jake White (Overlea, Md.), who both finished their efforts in the win over the Griffins with a team-leading three goals.

Both players also dished out an assist.

Ben Ewing (Atlanta, Ga.) finished the contest 10-for-15 on his face-offs, while McManus scooped a team-high four ground balls.

Ewing and Brian Foley (Charlotte, N.C.) both netted a team-best three goals in PC’s 19-9 loss to St. Michael’s at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore.

Foley led the team altogether on the day with five points after also recording two assists in the loss.

Ewing was once again strong on his face-offs in the contest, winning 13 of his 19 attempts in the game.

Pat Slaughter (Lutherville, Md.) made 13 saves for the Blue Hose against St. Michael’s.

PC fell 20-11 to No. 8 Molloy College on Monday, March 12 at Harris Stadium in a neutral site contest on the campus of the University of North Carolina.

Presbyterian played the Lions a great deal closer than the score as the Blue Hose tied the Lions in the third quarter with both teams scoring three. PC then allowed just one more (5-4) goal to Molloy than they scored in the fourth quarter, deeming the real story in the game to prove to be the second quarter when the Blue Hose were outscored 7-1 by the Lions.

Keith Galante led the Lions offensively in the contest, netting a game-high four goals and a game-high tying three assists. He was one of five Molloy players with two or more goals and one of three with two or more assists.

PC was led in the loss by Foley, who ended the game with three goals and a game-high tying three assists. Jeremy Metcalfe (Dallas, Ga.) also concluded his day with three goals for the Blue Hose.

In total, seven Blue Hose placed the ball in the cage in the game.

Presbyterian won its first men’s lacrosse game of the 2007 season on Friday, March 9 with a 9-7 victory over Pfeiffer at Old Bailey Stadium.

Foley led the Blue Hose in the victory, finishing with a game-high tying three goals and a game-high two assists.

Three Blue Hose concluded the game with two or more goals as Sean Mulford (Towson. Md.) had two goals for the Blue Hose in the victory, while McManus (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) added two of his own for PC.
