PC Men’s Lacrosse Holds Annual End Of The Year Banquet

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College’s men’s lacrosse team held its annual end of the year banquet recently, honoring the second varsity team in school history. The 2007 Blue Hose finished with the most wins in program history and tallied the first winning streak in the history of the program by winning two consecutive games over Seton Hill and Lees-McRae.

Sophomore captain Drew Tobias was honored as PC’s Most Valuable Defensive Player at the event. The defender from Greensboro, N.C. concluded the 2007 season as the only Blue Hose player with double digits in caused turnovers with 12.

Tobias ended his year with 32 ground balls and one goal scored.

Brian Foley was chosen as the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player. Foley was named to the 2007 All-Deep South Conference lacrosse team, becoming the first Blue Hose lacrosse player in the two-year varsity history of the program to pick up all-conference plaudits.

Foley (Charlotte, N.C.) concluded the 2007 campaign with the most goals on the team, ending his year with a grand total of 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists). Named to the all-league team as a midfielder, Foley had 38 ground balls this past season and caused two turnovers.

Sean Mulford (Towson, Md.) won the final award of the event as he was chosen as the recipient of the Joshua Louis Kay Unsung Hero Award, which is named after former PC assistant coach and interim Clinton City Manager Josh Kay, who served as the head coach of the program in an interim capacity prior to Childs’ arrival at PC.

According to Childs, Kay epitomizes what the PC lacrosse program is about and it would not be where it is right now without him, which is why Mulford is the right person for the award after finishing the year with a team second-best 35 total points on 26 goals and nine assists.
