PC MEN’S LACROSSE TEAM READY FOR YEAR TWO

CLINTON, S.C. – After two successful scrimmages, Presbyterian men’s lacrosse team begins its 2007 season at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 at NCAA Division II preseason No. 4 Limestone College.

The Blue Hose will return to the field this spring after a somewhat successful inaugural season in 2006.

The 2006 Blue Hose squad recorded their first ever win as a NCAA Division II member. Two weeks later they won their first Deep South conference game in a win over Lees-McRae.

Head Coach Jason Childs, who came to PC after a two-year stint as an assistant at Limestone, will be at the helm for his second season and has his Blue Hose ready to compete in the Deep South Conference.

The 2007 squad is one that he is very excited about.

With the addition of 19 freshmen and one transfer, Childs will have young team. In fact, the Blue Hose will be without any seniors and feature just five juniors.

The team has bonded well since the beginning of fall practice and that has Childs very excited.

“I do not know if I have ever been around a team that is closer than the group we have,” said Childs. “From day one they have all clicked and we are looking forward to what happens from that.”

The PC offensive unit received a much needed face lift with the addition of four very talented attackmen and a slew of athletic midfielders.

However, even with the offensive additions to the team the defense will again be the strong point to this team.

Childs will get some help in this department from first year assistant Matt Lindner, who will assume the role of Defensive Coordinator for the Blue Hose this season.

Including the Limestone game, Presbyterian opens the 2007 season with three road contests. The first home game of the season for the Blue Hose is at 6 p.m. on March 6 against conference foe Mars Hill.
