PRESBYTERIAN DOMINATES 2006 SOUTH ATLANTIC
CONFERENCE MEN’S TENNIS AWARDS
PC’s Hector Rincon named SAC Player &
Scholar-Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, SC –
Presbyterian College senior
Hector Rincon (London,
England), who went undefeated in conference play (5-0) and
11-5 overall at No. 1 singles, was named the South Atlantic
Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year for the second
time in his career, the league announced today.
Rincon also received the Men’s Tennis Scholar Athlete Award,
winning for the second year in a row.

Presbyterian head coach Patric Hynes was named SAC Men’s
Tennis Coach of the Year after leading the Blue Hose
to their sixth regular season title. He wins the
award for the first time in his career. |
Conference champion Presbyterian led the way with four
All-Conference selections, including three on the First
Team. Joining Rincon on the first team were fellow Blue Hose
seniors Kshitij Dwivedi and
Nick Osborne.

Dwivedi, a native of New Delhi, India, compiled a 13-5 overall
record (5-0 SAC) in singles and teamed with Osborne
at No. 2 doubles to post 16-1 mark (5-0 SAC). He
earned SAC Player of the Week honors twice during
the year. |

Osborne, a native of Hutton Rudby, England, went 14-2 overall (5-0
SAC) at No. 3 singles and earned SAC Player of the
Week honors twice this season. |

PC’s representative on the second team is freshman
Aaron Chapman.
Chapman, a native of Perth, Australia made an
immediate impact for the Blue Hose this season after
compiling a 13-5 overall record (4-1 SAC) in singles
at the No. 4 flight and teamed with Rincon at No. 1
doubles to post a 14-1 mark (5-0 SAC). |

Rincon also was named SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the
second year in a row. Rincon has a 3.85 grade point
average as a dual major in business administration
and math. He was the SAC Freshman of the Year in
2003 and the Player of the Year in 2004 and a
four-time First Team All-Conference selection. In
four years, he has not lost a singles match in
conference play. |
He is a two-time ITA Academic All-American and has been on the
Presbyterian College’s President’s List (4.0 GPA) for three
semesters and Dean’s List (3.3 GPA) for four. He is the
recipient of the Bailey Scholarship for outstanding
achievement in the business department and the Whitelaw
Scholarship for outstanding achievement in the math
department.
In the community, Rincon serves as a math tutor for middle and high
school students and is a member of the Presbyterian College
Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
