25 BLUE HOSE CRUISE PAST EAGLES 7-2 IN CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College improved their record to 8-6 on the season and 4-0 in the South Atlantic Conference with today’s 7-2 victory over the Eagles of Carson-Newman College in men’s action on the Templeton Courts. Carson-Newman drops their record to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in the league play. The No. 25-ranked Blue Hose picked up a pair of wins during doubles to take an early 2-1 lead. Seniors Nick Osborne and Kshitij Dwivedi defeated C-N’s duo of Ricardo Guitierrez and Travis Bauguess 8-1 at the No. 1 flight, while senior Hector Rincon and freshman Aaron Chapman defeated C-N’s duo of Rafael Soares and Michael Swanson 8-6. The Eagles did win at the No. 3 flight as Giuseppe Schwarz and Preston Sneed defeated PC’s freshman tandem of Brad Luciuk and Pat Fediuk 8-3. In singles, Presbyterian won five of six matches led by Dwivedi’s 6-1, 6-1 victory over Soares at No. 2 and Osborne’s win at No. 3 when Schwarz retired in the second set trailing 6-0, 2-0 due to injury. Sneed gave the Eagles a point at No. 5 as he defeated Sneed 6-2, 6-2, but PC’s Rincon fought back from a one set deficit to defeat Guiterrez 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the top flight. PC’s Chapman and Fediuk finished the match with straight set victories over Swanson and Baugess. |
