BLUE HOSE MEN’S TENNIS HOST EAGLES & PIONEERS
 IN KEY SAC TENNIS WEEKEND

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College men’s tennis program will host a pair of South Atlantic Conference opponents in the Eagles of Carson-Newman College and the Pioneers of Tusculum College over the weekend that will go along way in deciding the 2006 South Atlantic Conference regular season champion.

The Blue Hose (7-6, 3-0 SAC) are currently ranked No. 25 in the latest Fila NCAA Division II National rankings and are ranked No. 7 in the first NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings released yesterday.

On Saturday, April 1, Presbyterian will host Carson-Newman College in a key South Atlantic Conference match-up. The Eagles enter the weekend with an 8-2 overall mark and a 1-1 record in league play. C-N and Newberry College will play Friday afternoon before the Eagles travel to Clinton, S.C. on Saturday for their match with the Blue Hose. PC defeated Carson-Newman 9-0 last season on April 3 in Jefferson City, Tenn.

The marquee match-up of the weekend will take place on Sunday, April 2, as the No. 37-ranked Pioneers of Tusculum College (10-4, 3-0 SAC) will come to town for a 1:00 pm match. PC and Tusculum have combined to win all but one SAC regular season title dating back to the 2000 season when the regular season champion was first recognized. The Pioneers are also ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast region rankings.

Last season on April 10 in Greeneville, Tenn., the Pioneers defeated the Blue Hose 5-4 to win the 2005 SAC regular season title, but PC would get their revenge by beating Tusculum 5-2 on April 23 in the championship match of the 2005 Food Lion SAC Tournament.
