Patric
Hynes is in his second season as head coach of the
Presbyterian College men’s tennis program.
Last
year, he led the Blue Hose to a 13-9 overall record, the
2005 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament
title, a runner-up finish in the SAC regular season
standings (5-1), and earned a bid to the NCAA Division II
Southeast Regional Tournament. The postseason bid was the
program’s ninth since 1996.
Hynes
came to Presbyterian College from Lees-McRae College in
Banner Elk, N.C. where he spent the previous season as head
men’s and women’s tennis coach.
In 2004,
Hynes led the men’s team to an 18-4 overall record and a
second place finish in the Carolinas-Virginia Conference
regular season while the women’s team compiled a 17-4 mark
and also finished second in the CVAC. Both Lees-McRae tennis
teams also excelled in the classroom as they earned ITA
Academic All-American honors.
Hynes
spent three seasons including the 2002-03 season as an
assistant coach at Lees-McRae before taking over head coach
prior to this past season. Hynes is no stranger to the
Banner Elk campus as he graduated cum laude from the
institution in 2000 with a degree in business
administration. He was also a four-year letterwinner with
the Bobcats and earned CVAC Freshman of the Year (1995-96),
All-CVAC, and ITA Academic honors during his career.
Hynes is
a native of Melbourne, Australia and is married to the
former Judi Ball from Summerville, S.C.
