PC Wins First SAC Match Of Year With A 8-1 Victory Over Catawba
CLINTON, S.C. – No. 20 Presbyterian College defeated Catawba College 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at Templeton Courts to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Presbyterian opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. Presbyterian’s doubles tandem of Aaron Chapman-Matthew Martin won at No. 1 doubles by defeating the Indians’ Jose Velazquez-Drew Ramsey by a score of 8-2.
Brad Luciuk-Michael Nicol made the score 2-0 in favor of PC with their 8-6 win over Catawba’s Hector Bousoulas-Cyle Petersen. Catawba won at No. 2 doubles when the team of Fernando Aguiar-Sean Soltan defeated PC’s Ruan Olivier-Andrew Lee with a score of 9-8.
In singles action on the day, PC’s Matt Martin won at No. 2 singles with a straight set 6-1, 7-6, victory over the Indians’ Sean Soltan. Ruan Olivier won at No. 3 singles for the Blue Hose with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Fernando Aguiar. PC’s Andrew Lee clinched the overall victory with his 6-4, 6-1 win over Drew Ramsey at No. 6 singles.
Patrick Fediuk won at No. 5 singles for the Blue Hose with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Cyle Petersen. Mike Nicol defeated Catawba’s Hector Gonzales at No. 4 singles with a score of 6-7, 6-2 (default). PC’s Aaron Chapman won at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 7-6 score over the Indians’ Jose Velazquez.
Presbyterian is back in action tomorrow as they travel to
Anderson University for a 1:30 p.m. match.
