PC's Matthew Martin Named SAC Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Matthew Martin of Presbyterian College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday. This marks the second time this season Martin has earned this honor.

Martin, a freshman from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, posted wins at singles and doubles play as Presbyterian defeated rival Newberry College 8-1. Martin posted a straight set win over Daryl Van Vuuren 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

Martin and No. 1 doubles partner Aaron Chapman recorded a win over Jeremy Smith and Van Vuuren. Martin and Chapman are currently ranked No. 22 in NCAA Division II doubles.

The SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.
