PC’s Martin Named SAC Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Matthew Martin of Presbyterian College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday. Martin claims this honor for a third time this season.

Martin, a freshman from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, went 4-0 in singles play last week as the No. 30 Blue Hose won three of four matches last week and captured their second straight South Atlantic Conference championship.

Martin had his biggest win in PC's only point in an 8-1 loss to No. 10 Lander University.  Martin posted a 6-4, 7-5 upset of Nicolas Legros at No. 2 singles. Legros was ranked No. 32 in NCAA Division II at the time.

Martin and doubles partner Aaron Chapman went 3-1 during the week and are currently ranked 22nd in the nation.

The SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.
