Presbyterian Wins 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Title
MARS HILL, NC - Top-seeded Presbyterian College
defeated No 2 seed Tusculum College, 5-0 to win the 2007
Food Lion SAC Tournament Crown. The event was played at the
Hart Tennis Complex on the campus of Mars Hill College.
Michael Nicol was named the SAC Tournament Most Valuable
Player. PC improved to 17-5 on the season while the Pioneers
fell to 15-6 on the season.
PC swept doubles play after first team All-SAC pick Aaron
Chapman (Mount Pleasant, Australia) and Matthew Martin
(Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) defeated Second team
All-SAC member Carlos Garcia (Caracas, Venezuela) and Sergio
Espinosa (Caracas, Venezuela), 8-5. Zach Glankler (Highland
Village, TX) and Andrew Lee (Myrtle Beach, SC) beat Leo
Guaycurus (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Henrique Rodrigues
(Salvador-Bahia, Brazil), 8-6, before Patrick Fediuk
(Kimberly, British Columbia, Canada) and Michael Nicol
(Spartanburg, SC) completed the doubles sweep with a 9-7
victory over Julien Jacob (Vancouver, British Columbia,
Canada) and Nicolas Bigler (Chernex, Switzerland).
Nicol and Lee won their singles matches to seal the win.
Nicol defeated Henrique Rodrigues (Salvador-Bahia, Brazil)
in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) and then Lee beat Hunter Beal (Heiskell,
TN) 6-3, 6-1.
