PC Falls To Rollins In First Round Of The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Presbyterian fell 5-2 to 11th-ranked Rollins on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex. The 2007 South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament champions, PC ends its season with a 17-6 record.

In singles action, Presbyterian’s Aaron Chapman garnered a 6-3, 6-1 victory over the Tars’ No. 1 Brian Compton.

Patrick Fediuk picked up PC’s only other win at on the day with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Rollins’ Albin Hubscher in the fifth singles flight.

The Tars swept all three doubles matches with No. 1 seeds Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez coming out on top against Aaron Chapman and Matthew Martin 9-8.

Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo bettered their season record to 9-3 as they defeated Zach Glankler and Andrew Lee 8-5 in the second seeded bout.

The SSC second team duo of Adrian Tan and Michael Schwartz defeated Fediuk and Michael Nicol 8-6 in the No. 3 position.

Gomez and Seijo won their matches in the No. 3 and No. 4 spot respectively. Gomez overpowered Ruan Olivier 6-1, 6-3 and Seijo beat Nicol 6-4, 6-4 to seal the first round victory for the Tars. The remaining singles matches went unfinished on the afternoon.
