SWEEPS PRESBYTERIAN SAC OPENER CLINTON,
S.C. – The Bears
offense produced 19 hits for 11 runs in two games while the Lenoir-Rhyne
pitchers allowed only eight hits and one run the entire day for the Blue Hose
offense as they defeated PC 6-0 and 5-1 in both teams conference openers. With the two
losses, PC falls to 18-22-1 and 0-2 in conference play while L-R improves to
19-10 overall and 2-0 in the SAC. PC

starting pitcher Audrey Kreske (Miami, FL) gave up only one hit and
struck out six batters in seven innings of work to defeat the Blue Hose in the
first game of the doubleheader. The
L-R offense started the game off slow but finished with six runs off of eight
hits. The Bears picked up two runs
in the third inning after sophomore designated hitter Kristen Kimball (Matthews,
NC) singled up the middle and scored two runs.
Kimball went two-for-three at the plate with four RBI in the first game.
In her final at-bat of the game, she hit a two RBI triple that capped
off a three run seventh inning to seal the victory for the Bears. For the Blue Hose, junior starting pitcher Brook Norris (Anderson, SC) took the loss after going seven innings and giving up five earned runs off of eight hits while striking out six batters. PC – 1,
L-R – 5
In the
second game of the doubleheader, the Bears used another three run seventh
inning to defeat PC 5-1. Blue Hose freshman starting pitcher Samantha
Slater (Westerville, OH) pitched five and a third strong innings,
striking out two and only giving up one earned run off of four hits, but took
the loss to fall to 7-6 on the season. Freshman
pinch hitter Katie Fite (Conway,
SC) drove in the Blue Hose lone run in the sixth inning with a single to center
field. For the
Bears, freshman short stop Chrissy Lunsford (Tyrone, GA) went
one-for-four and drove in two runs, scoring another run to lead L-R at the
plate. Junior starting pitcher Sarah
Cox (Hudson, NC) picked up the win going five and a third innings
scattering six hits and giving up one earned run. Kreske picked up the save for the Bears in relief and struck
out four batters. |
