BLUE HOSE SWEEP LIONS IN SAC SOFTBALL DOUBLEHEADER

MARS HILL, NC – The visiting Presbyterian Blue Hose (22-22-1, 4-2) swept a conference doubleheader with the Mars Hill Lions (15-23, 2-4).  Presbyterian won game one 4-0 which included a 30 minute lightening delay.  The Blue Hose made it a sweep by taking game two 9-4.

Presbyterian got a strong pitching performance from Samantha Slater (Westerville, OH) who moved to 9-6 on the season with the complete game shutout.  Slater gave up only three hits while striking out five with only one walk.  Jana Waters (Liberty, SC) and Amanda Teal (Chapin, SC) led the attack with two hits each.  Lindsay Hert (Simpsonville, SC) took the loss for Mars Hill while striking out seven without walking a batter.  Hert’s record falls to 5-7 with the complete game.

Brooke Norris completed the sweep for the Blue Hose with a complete game win.  Norris is now 10-14 on the season.  Teal paced the offense with three hits and an RBI.  Jamie Vining (Fayetteville, GA) and Beth Rocker (Alpharetta, GA) had two hits and two RBIs each.  Rocker hit her fifth homerun of the year.  Lyn Loomis (Ocean Isle, NC) took the loss for the Lions.  She is 4-4 on the season.  Brandi Brunson (Americus, GA) hit a two run homerun (2) for the Lions with Carrie Murry (Connelly Springs, NC) on board.  Carissa Rice (Weaverville, NC) added a solo shot for her first round-tripper of the year.  Brunson and Rice had two RBIs each.

The Lions will return to action tomorrow, Monday, when they host North Greenville College at Ponder Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.  Presbyterian will be in action next on Wednesday, when they host Catawba College in Clinton, SC.  Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
