AMANDA TEAL EARNS FIRST TEAM NFCA ALL-SOUTH 
ATLANTIC REGION HONORS

CLINTON, S.C. Presbyterian College a senior centerfielder Amanda Teal (Chapin, SC) has been named to the 2004 NCAA Division II All-South Atlantic Region first team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced last week. 

Teal, a 5-5, starting centerfielder, becomes only the second player in Lady Blue Hose history to earn NFCA All-Region honors. Former Blue Hose standout Sonya McNeil earned all-region honors in 1998 and 2000.

The All-SAC selection led the Lady Blue Hose in batting average (.411), triples (8), total bases (123), slugging percentage (.683), on-base percentage (.481), walks (23), stolen bases (13), and finished tied with 8 homeruns this season.  

Teal finishes her four-year career as one of the best players in Lady Blue Hose softball history. She finishes her career first in program history in runs scored (178), hits (243), triples (18), homeruns (17), total bases (365), slugging percentage (.524), and RBI (145). She finishes tied for second in doubles (35), batting average (.349), on-base percentage (.396), and stolen bases (53). 

At the 2004 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament, Teal was named to the All-Tournament team. She went 5-for-18 with 3 runs scored during the regional. 

The Lady Blue Hose finished the season with a program record 48 wins against 13 losses and posted a 9-5 mark in the South Atlantic Conference good for second place tie.  PC went 4-0 en route to their first SAC Tournament Title this season.  The Lady Blue Hose finished the season ranked fourth in the South Atlantic Region and received the program's first NCAA postseason regional bid. PC participated in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Region Tournament in Kennesaw, GA this past week. PC went 4-2 at the NCAA Regional Tournament where they advanced to the championship game. The Lady Blue Hose fell to the #1 ranked Owls of Kennesaw State University 5-1 in the championship game. The regional championship game appearance was the first time a SAC school has played for the region championship in league history.  

Teal now goes on to the national ballot for the All-American team that will be announced later this month.
