PRESBYTERIAN SOFTBALL SWEEPS LIGHTNING 3-0 & 12-0

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College softball team defeats Goldey-Beacom College 3-0 & 12-0 Saturday afternoon at the PC Softball Complex. The Lady Blue Hose improve to 13-2 on the season while Goldey-Beacom drops to 2-4 on the year.

GAME #1 — PRESBYTERIAN 3, GOLDEY-BEACOM 0

In game one, Presbyterian's sophomore pitcher Samantha Slater  (Westerville, OH) threw seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only one hit to win 3-0. 

The Blue Hose scored one run in the bottom of the third with freshman  second baseman Rachel Bailey (Howard, OH) hitting her second homerun of the season. 

PC received some insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when freshman first baseman Jessica Peterka (Sarasota, Fl) singled and drove in Bailey, and senior Jamie Vining (Fayetteville, GA) for a 3-0 lead.

Goldey-Beacom could not mount a rally as the Blue Hose prevailed 3-0. Slater picked up her third victory of the year while Tiffany Frick (Pennsauken, NJ) picked up the loss. 

At the plate, Presbyterian was led by Bailey (2-3) with two runs scored and a homerun. Goldey-Beacom's only hit came from senior first baseman Stephanie Dreibelbis (Kutztown, PA).

GAME #2 — PRESBYTERIAN 12, GOLDEY-BEACOM 0

In game two, PC jumped out early scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. Junior Whitney Hannon (Greer, S.C.) singled to drive in Allison Tebbe (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Haley Brooks (Tifton, GA). 

Goldey-Beacom had runners in scoring position in the top of the third but could not produce any runs. 

In the bottom of the third, the Blue Hose broke the game open by scoring ten runs on six hits and three errors. The inning was capped off by senior Amanda Teal (Chapin, S.C.) hitting a three run homer over left-center. 

Freshman pitcher Jessica Flanagan (Piedmont, SC) pitched five innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win for the Blue Hose while freshman Rebecca Dooley (Deer Park, NY) picked up the loss for the Lightning. 

At the plate, Presbyterian was led by Peterka (2-2) with two hits, a run scored, and three RBI's. The Lightning were led by Andrea Conner's (Blandon, PA) two hits. 

The Lady Blue Hose return to action this tomorrow to play Mt. Olive College in Central, S.C. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. Goldey-Beacom returns to action Monday, March 15th when they travel to face Millersville University.
